Zend Core for IBM is a portal to the PHP server on which it runs; this portal provides a single means for PHP management and functionality control. System Requirements Zend Core for IBM requires that your system meet the following hardware and software specifications: Supported Platforms Linux SLES 9 on x86, x86-64 Linux RHEL 4 on x86, x86-64 Linux SLES V9 & V10 on IBM pSeries Linux RHEL V4 & V5 on IBM pSeries Windows XP & 2003 (32 bit), Vista (32 & 64 bit) IBM AIX V5.2 & V5.3 on IBM pSeries Note: ALL supported OS’s should be patched to their latest patch level. Supported Web Servers Apache 1.3.x Apache 2.0.x (compiled in prefork mode only) Apache 2.2.x (compiled in prefork mode only) Microsoft IIS 5,6,7 Additional Requirements Supported Browsers To access the Zend Core for IBM Administrative User Interface, use one of the following browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and above Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and above Web browsers must have cookies and pop-ups enabled. The browsers do not have to be physically installed on the Web server and can be accessed by pointing to: – 1 – Zend Core for IBM – Installation and Maintenance Guide http:///ZendCore. Note: For the most up-to-date system requirement, see the Zend Core System Requirements Page at: http://www.zend.com/products/zend_core/system_requirements Zend Studio Client Zend Core for IBM requires Zend Studio 4.0 (or higher) in order for its interface with Studio Client to function. Installing Zend Core for IBM The instructions that follow describe installing Zend Core on Unix/Linux/Mac and Windows. Unix/Linux To install Zend Core for IBM under Unix/Linux, follow these steps: 1. Make sure that you have root privileges before running the installer. 2. Run the following command to unpack Zend Core 2.0 for IBM: gunzip -c | tar xvf – The unzipped files will be placed in a directory with the same name as the package, without the archive suffix (e.g. . tar.gz ). AIX Comments: (1) “gunzip” must be pre-installed. (2) You may either install the product using the. /install-tty command or you should have terminfo pre-installed (terminfo is a part of the AIX BOS). 3. After extracting the files, change the current directory to the extracted files directory. 4. Type ‘. /install’ to start the Zend Core Installer. – 2 – Zend Core for IBM – Installation and Maintenance Guide Note: Zend Core 2.0 for IBM comes with two terminal-based installation scripts. The Text UI (TUI) dialog-based script is described in detail below. A similar TTY-based script is also provided for terminal-based systems that do not support the graphics capability of the TUI installation dialog boxes. 5. Run the installation script by typing the following command in the installation directory: ./install 6. The installer will open. Follow the instructions until the installation has finished. Figure 1 – Installer Welcome Screen 7. Click OK to continue. The License Agreement will appear. Figure 2 – License Agreement 8. Click Next to close the license agreement and continue. – 3 – Zend Core for IBM – Installation and Maintenance Guide Figure 3 – License Acceptance 9. Click Yes to accept the license and continue with the installation. Installation 10. If this is the first time you are installing Zend Core, you will need to specify the location for installation: NOTE: The default path for installing Zend Core 2.0 for IBM is /usr/local/Zend/Core. If you choose another path, make sure that you can write to /usr/local. This is because the installer creates a symlink from /usr/local/Zend/Core to the install path you use. Figure 4 – Confirm Installation Location 11. Specify a location and click OK to continue. Files will be installed and the password screen will appear. – 4 – Zend Core for IBM – Installation and Maintenance Guide Note for Upgrading Zend Core: If the Zend Core Installer identifies a previously installed version, it will display a prompt asking if you want to override or to keep previous settings. If you select the upgrade option, the installer will automatically install the new version while keeping the old configuration files and settings. 12. Enter a password to access Zend Core for IBM’s Administrative User Interface (GUI). Confirm your selection in the next screen.
